Dr. Bruce C. Cozzens, born and raised in Traverse City, he founded Oakwood Veterinary Hospital in 1977. A graduate of MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Cozzens prefers to focus on preventive medicine and diagnosis and management of medical disease to surgery. He has extensive experience in all areas of medicine, including dentistry, skin disease, allergies, nutrition, hormonal imbalances, behavior, ear, eye and gastrointestinal disease. He and his wife, Kathy, have three sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grand children. A native of the Traverse City area, Dr. Cozzens enjoys fishing, hiking, and spending time with his family.
Dr. M. Drew Henshaw, a 1996 graduate of Iowa State’s College of Veterinary Medicine, has been with Oakwood since 2007. After graduation he moved to St. Louis, Missouri to work at a busy small animal practice. Having a special interest in surgery he joined the staff at Great Lakes Surgical Center and spent almost eight years in Grand Rapids practicing at the only referral veterinary surgical center in West Michigan. While he sees outpatients several days/week, he has established a much-needed surgical referral center here in northern Michigan. His wife is a Traverse City native and they have two wonderful children and a Weimaraner named Remy. Dr. Henshaw enjoys the outdoors, including swimming, boating, kayaking, biking and running.
